'Connect to Practitioner' Feature

‘Connect to Practitioner’ Feature

At My Digital Health, we are committed to increasing both individual consumer choice when it comes to accessing digital health programs as well as assisting healthcare practitioners to gently learn how to integrate digital health technologies into their practice. To assist individual consumers and practitioners further, we are now offering our self-help digital health program consumers with the ability to digitally connect with their healthcare practitioner through their My Digital Health program account. If a consumer opts to do this, we will get in touch with their healthcare practitioner and discuss this with them. Should the practitioner consent to participate (an example of a healthcare practitioner plain language statement can be viewed by clicking here), the consumer and practitioner will be privately and securely connected to one another through My Digital Health.

  • Please note that at this time, this option is only available to Australian consumers and practitioners and confined to the Life Flex, Life Flex 4 PTSD, Life Flex – LGBQ, iSleepWell, BDZ digital health and MonitorMe digital health programs.

Consumer & Practitioner Benefits

The two main functions associated with this ‘Connect to Practitioner’ feature are communication and tracking functions. To learn more about these two main functions and their related benefits, please look through the toggle boxes below.

Communication Functions

When a healthcare practitioner is connected to a consumer’s account, they can use the My Digital Health platform to communicate with each other securely.

This can occur through a variety of communication modalities including:

  • Shared collaborative digital workspace
  • Instant messaging
  • Audio / video-chat
  • Secure email with attachments

+ Shared Collaborative Digital Workspace

Essentially a shared collaborative digital workspace communication system is a collection of channels (or rooms) allowing you to access all of your digital communications with one or more people in the one place. There are three main types of shared collaborative digital channels / rooms and they vary in relation to how ‘open’ the channel / room is and how many people can communicate within each one of the channels / rooms. These being:

  • Open Channels: These are shared collaborative digital workspaces / rooms that are generally open to all platform users.
  • Private Groups: Are shared collaborative digital workspace rooms that contain only those people who have been directly invited into the group.
  • Direct Messages: These are private digital workspace rooms occurring between two members only.

Within each individual shared collaborative digital workspace channel / room you can create direct video or audio messages, attach files / pictures / videos, post text-based messages, conduct an instant messaging session and start an audio / video-chat. Please click on the below picture to see what our shared collaborative digital workspace communication system looks like.

+ Instant Messaging

You might opt to use a shared collaborative digital workspace room to conduct an instant messaging session in real time.

+ Audio / Video-Chat

Our shared collaborative digital workspaces also allow you to start an audio / video chat session with the members in that room / channel. Each audio / video-chat session is encrypted and unique to each shared collaborative digital channel / room. The video-chat system uses a technology called WebRCT, which means there is no need to download any software (when accessing it on a computer) or pay a third party. However, in order to participate via a mobile phone or tablet (Apple or Android), you will need to download a free app via the Google Play or the Apple App store.

+ Secure Email with Attachments

All My Digital Health program accounts include a more traditional email system. When emails are created by humans (as opposed to automated emails), these emails do not leave the platform. Rather, a notification email is triggered to the person’s external email account, alerting them that an email has been sent to them and that they need to log into My Digital Health to view it. You can also attach most file types to the emails, so they to stay secure within the platform.

Tracking Functions

There are several My Digital Health features that help practitioners better track both their client and themselves. More specifically, My Digital Health can provide:

  • Greater oversight of the digital health program that their client is undertaking
  • If the consumer consents, the practitioner can view their client’s progress and account activity data
  • Access to a digital mental health healthcare practitioner training program
  • Possible expansion of the My Digital Health features

+ Program Overview

Every healthcare practitioner who is connected to an individual consumer through My Digital Health will be provided with access to the program that their client is currently undertaking. This allows the healthcare practitioner to work through the program with their client.

+ Monitoring Progress

When a consumer requests that we add a healthcare practitioner to their account, we ask the consumer to specify what data their practitioner can see. The options include the consumers:

  • Progress graphs
  • Timeline & account activity
  • Self-monitoring graph

+ Digital Mental Health Practitioner Training

Every healthcare practitioner will have access to a two module ‘digital mental health training program’. We strongly recommend that each practitioner work through this program before they start to use My Digital Health with their first client.

There is also a competency-based exam at the end of the training program, so that the practitioner can self-test their understanding of both digital mental health and the My Digital Health platform.

+ Added Functionality

We have kept the ‘Connect to Practitioner’ features to a minimum – as a way to gently ease healthcare practitioners into the practice of using digital health technologies.

However there are many other features that a practitioner could gain access to. Some of the additional features include things like:

  • Inviting in their own clients
  • Prescribing programs to their clients
  • Creating a collaborative digital support team around their client (e.g., inviting in other healthcare professionals, partners / carers)
  • Creating their own program or evaluation flows
  • Creating their own resources / programs for clients to use

+ CorePlus Interoperability

My Digital Health is interoperable with CorePlus (a patient management system).  CorePlus provide MBS and DVA invoicing and running of financial reports.

At present, when you create appointments through CorePlus, these appointments are automatically populated in the practitioners My Digital Health calendar.
